Some weekends are better than others and this weekend I brought my brunch game. It was so good that a recap is necessary.
Black Tap Meatpacking
I started my Saturday by heading to the new location of Black Tap for a @brunchboys #BrunchInBlack. Michelin Starred Chef Joe Isidori has done it again by creating the unique Brunch Croissant Burger. His ideas never fail to surprise the entire food community and me. This dish consists of a Dominque Ansel croissant, bacon, a fried egg and a cheeseburger. #EPIC.
The yolk porn was so insane; I couldn't stop taking pictures of this burger. Along with the burger, we ate mounds and mounds of fries. I cannot wait until we meet again.
I have been dying to go to Maialino for brunch for a long time now. When I went for dinner last year I instantly fell in love with the entire restaurant – from the atmosphere to the food, everything was perfect.
Brunch highlights included:
- Toffee Glazed Brioche Bun: I am sorry to say it but Sadelle’s may have some competition.
- Frittata Bianca: These eggs with sweet potato, caramelized onion and parmigiano was not my favorite dish of the meal but it definitely got my stomach ready for the meal to follow.
- Ricotta Pancakes: ADDICTIVE. I kept finding myself sticking my fork in for more. The pancakes were so soft in the inside with a distinct ricotta flavor. And the ricotta taste went surprisingly well with maple syrup on top.
- Cacio e Pepe: I don't need to tell you that Cacio e Pepe is one of my favorite foods on earth. Well, this cacio e pepe makes my top ten (and this dish I have tried at many, many restaurants). This pasta is coated with a cheese sauce and has just the right amount of pepper.
And believe it or not, I could not choose a favorite dish because each one was THAT good!
