In order to pre game the weekend, I went to Alta with a big group of my best girl friends. I was surprised by the adorable entrance (walking down a few steps into a narrow doorway, which was surrounded by vines and flowers) and european vibe of the space. There was a wrap around balcony on the second floor that overlooked the main dining area. We were seated at a wonderful round table in the corner of the balcony.
Alta mainly offers small plates that are perfect for sharing. This ensures that your meal will be over two hours long and will only end after everyone in your party has had several drinks. In true One More Dish fashion, we ordered almost half of the menu.
Must order: The Fried Goat Cheese with Lavender infused Honey and the Angus Beef Slider In Turkish Yufka Pastry.
These two dishes stood out to me because they displayed creative cooking techniques and paired unique textures together. It was truly delicious!
Other dishes featured below: Lamb Meatballs, Seared Sea Scallops, Agave Glazed Chicken Wings, Falafel, Fried Soft Shell Crab, Arugula Salad and Zucchini Flat Bread.
I love when I am pleasantly surprised by a restaurant that I didn't previously know much about. After evaluating the ambiance, service, decor and food, I would classify Alta as a gem in the Greenwich Village.
